Tennis

In the summer the Derrick’s three tennis courts are a favourite place to enjoy the outdoors. We offer a variety of leagues, tournaments and lessons for all ages and abilities. Members can also simply drop in for a casual game with their friends.


Hours

Daily 6 a.m. – 11 p.m.
Tennis courts may be reserved online (barring scheduled lessons).

Registration

  • Registration for programs is completed online through Game Time.
  • To cancel, you must unregister 72 hours before the start date.

Fitness & Wellness Director

This is Christine’s sixth year as the head tennis professional at the Derrick Club. Prior to coming to the Derrick Club she was an assistant coach over the summer months for six years at the Royal Glenora Club. She has been playing competitive tennis almost her entire life. She received a scholarship to play tennis at the University of Kansas where she studied sport and fitness management. She has experience coaching players of all levels, abilities and ages. She is excited to be the Derrick Club’s tennis professional again and is hoping to introduce this lifetime sport to as many members as possible.

 

Peter Skoda
Level 2 Professional

Peter is excited to join the Derrick team this summer. He has an extensive list of accomplishments as a tennis player and coach, including being ranking in the top 15 in Canada as a junior and as a top Open Men’s player in Alberta. He also helped to establish a tennis Academy in India, and lead a group of coaches at the Academy on two different occasions. Peter has over 18 years of teaching experience. He was an associate tennis pro at the Royal Glenora for 12 years teaching children from the age of 4 and adults to the age of 85, in groups and privately. Having decided to switch up his career and pursue real estate, his love for coaching tennis has drawn him back to teaching through the summer months.
