Whether you’re pushing your fitness goals to the limit or simply looking to stay fit and healthy, the Derrick fitness centre is the place for you. You’ll find a full range of up-to-date equipment, including cardio equipment, free weights, and machine weights. An adjacent climate-controlled studio is used for a variety of classes and stretching, and our specialized strength and conditioning room is a great place to work on your personalized fitness program. Our highly qualified fitness professionals offer a wide range of programs and personal training.

Multipurpose Gymnasium

The gymnasium is the Derrick’s social and activity hub. Members can take advantage of the numerous drop-in and organized activities for all ages and interests. In addition to basketball, volleyball, and pickleball, the gym is used for martial arts, fitness, child care, and other activities.

Virtual Golf

Virtual golf is available to all athletic members. Contact the Pro Shop at 780.437.8383 to book.

Fitness Centre Programs

  • Fitness centre orientations are available once a week to introduce you to the facility.
  • Junior members wishing to use the fitness centre must complete a junior fitness certification.
  • We offer a wide range of registered and drop-in classes to choose from.


All registration is completed online through GameTime.

The Monthly Fitness Pass classes run on a continuous month-to-month basis. Once registered, you do not need to re-register. To cancel, you must unregister 72 hours before the first of the month.

All other fitness classes are registered programs which have start and end dates.

Drop In

This is an alternative for members who want to attend the occasional class or try something new. Check the monthly schedule or call ahead to ensure the class is in progress. You may drop in as long as classes are not full. All classes are cancelled on Statutory holidays.

Fitness Centre

We teach you how to use the equipment properly. Learn about the different programs and find the ones best suited to you and your lifestyle. Orientations run once a week on Saturdays from 1:00 –1:30 p.m. If this time doesn’t work for you, please contact us directly and we will suggest alternatives. Junior Orientations
4:15 – 5:15 p.m.
Juniors 12 – 15 must take our certification in order use the fitness center. Those juniors who are 16 and 17 years old must check in with our fitness staff and be approved before they can be given access on their cards to be in the fitness center. The certification provides juniors with valuable information that ensures a safe introduction to exercising and physical fitness. It includes instruction on technique, aerobic vs. anaerobic exercise, diet, rest and other key components of a healthy fitness program. Juniors are given a simple program that they can do on their own. Orientations take approximately 30 minutes and require a short certification test to complete the certification.
